TERRIERS.

I always say there's no accounting for taste, and in this case I refer to myself. My newest celebrity crush is Michael Raymond-James, one of the primary stars of FX's Terriers. You might know him from True Blood... he was faux Cajun. I know him best as Britt Pollack and in addition to loving this show (it's like a more raunchy version of Veronica Mars, without the witty blonde girl, and takes place in the real Ocean Beach district of San Diego instead of the fictional "suburb" of Neptune) I've been pretty much drooling over him every week.

Can't find icons of him anywhere, no surprise there... I'm definitely going to have to make myself a few- although he's definitely better looking in motion than in photographs.

Speaking of motion... I would possibly kill/beg/perform sexual favors if anyone finds &/or makes some gifs of this show for me.

I had no plans to watch this show when I first saw the previews for it. It didn't hook me at all. And yet somehow I found myself sitting on the sofa at 2 in the morning, flipping through the OnDemand channels for something to watch and deciding- what the heck. If I don't like it I'll switch to something else.

For me I was hooked from the beginning. Maybe the timing was right. After all, I had moved to San Diego only a week before the show aired... I'd just finished reading the first two novels of the Chet & Bernie Mysteries- a PI story told from the perspective of a dog... But Terriers fit my mood perfectly and it continues to keep me entertained.

I enjoy the dynamic between Hank and Britt. The show has a gritty sort of raunchiness to it that appeals to me and makes the characters seem more real. While the overall plot seems a little scattered I feel like it's been handled well, and as the episodes progress it really seems like the writers are starting to get a better feel for the characters and where they want to take the show as a whole.

I gave this show a 10 for the following reasons-

A. It surprised me. I went into the show expecting nothing and was impressed. Five episodes in and I'm not bored yet. I've heard other people say that they were bored with the storyline or felt that it dragged a little, but I haven't gotten that impression at all.

B. I like every character. From Hank & Britt, to the women in their lives, Hank's old partner... Even Winston. Most shows have at least one or two characters that irk me, but even the guest stars have appealed to me so far. I especially like Hank's sister, Stephanie, and hope she'll stick around.

C. It makes me laugh out loud. While the show overall doesn't feel like a comedy, there have been a number of one liners that I've really appreciated.

D. Though I mentioned above that the plot felt a little scattered, I honestly feel that works better for the show. It's not so scattered that it's hard to follow, and if it were completely perfect I don't think it would work for the overall feel that Terriers presents.

This show is rough around the edges, a little bit raunchy, that has characters that are fun to get to know but also have relatable problems. It's probably not for everyone, but I hope they keep it around because it's my favorite new show of the season.

NOM. I always had a crush on Rene, despite the fact that he was a total psycho. I read about this in Newsweek...unless it was People, IDEK, I get my magazines mixed up sometimes since it's all I do at the library anymore. The reviewer gave it 4 stars, yo!

I'll keep my eyes open around Tumblr for GIFs.

IDK, I love it, but some of my friends tried it and didn't agree. One of them said she got bored, Chris said he liked some of the one liners but overall he wouldn't go out of his way for it.

I guess the characters just immediately hooked my attention and so now I am looking forward to learning their stories. Plus MRJ is just weird sex on a stick.

If you do find any gifs you'd be my hero. X54325346245
