2 35Television Characters (5 Females, 20 Males) - #20

OK, so originally the plan was to do my top 20 favorite characters on television. However, when I finished my initial list I realized that the males severely outweighed the females. And it really didn't take much to find three more males that I loved. SO, the list became 20 favorite male characters, and a bonus 3 favorite females... And since 23 is my favorite number it kind of all worked out. In any case, this list kicks off with a character whose show barely lasted a season- but that didn't make him any less great in my book.

teddy rist, the philanthropist.
PILOT (NIGERIA PT1) “You have to understand, I am so not the heroic type. Reckless, yes. Superman? Hardly.”

PARIS “My friends will tell you that I have something of an addictive personality, my single greatest addiction being to women. Mostly, I want to seduce them. Which, of course, means sensing their vulnerabilities. And when they're truly vulnerable, then a second addiction kicks in. I want to ease their pain. Or maybe my own.”

NIGERIA PT2 “Fathers and sons. We do things because of our fathers, we do things for our sons.”

SAN DIEGO “Someone is using my credit card to make charitable donations? That's an odd way to misbehave.”

SAN DIEGO “Yeah, but he or she is been using my card to make charitable donations. That's exactly the kind of nefarious bastard I want to meet.”

why he's loved.
HE'S RICH, BITCH OK, so money shouldn't be a reason to love someone, right? But in Teddy's case- money is what makes him capable of being so awesome. Really, the same could be said for some of the best superheroes out there as well. Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne... These two badasses wouldn't be able to get very far without a fat bank account. And the same is true for Teddy Rist. Money in the bank makes this pretty boy capable of flying around the world and throwing cash at hardened criminals to get himself out of tough situations, save a couple thousand children, and still be able to enjoy the local nightlife in style after a hard day's work.

CHIVALRY ISN'T DEAD YET He is "The Philanthropist" in the title. He might be a playboy, but he knows how to treat a woman well, he's a sucker for children, and he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty- though he does prefer not to. Plus, he's got that sexy accent while doing it. Though he drives them crazy to no end, he's unwaveringly loyal to his best friend/business partner and said partner's wife (Coincidentally this show made me appreciate Neve Campbell).

HE'S GOT AN ENTOURAGE And one of them is a kickass bodyguard called Dax. Teddy manages to command the loyalty of Dax and his assistants, and while I'm sure the paycheck helps there definitely seems to be more there than just waiting on the cash.

minor discrepancies.
WAIT, WHAT HAPPENED? My biggest issue was that this show was canceled. I can understand why, but it had such great potential, and all the main characters were easy to like but not without their flaws.

teddy rist, we hardly knew you. :( at least you know the real thing's walking around somewhere, continuing the amazing story.

I doubt the real thing is as hot, though.

But I guess that's true of all real vs tv personalities.
